“It is dumb to do what the DNC did,” Democratic U.S. House candidate Mac Schneider told me in an interview today on my radio show.
He was referring to the decision by the Democratic National Committee to put a ban on accepting campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry.
“It is absurd,” he said. “It’s a farce.”
Red state Democrats like Schneider and incumbent Senator Heidi Heitkamp, who is also on the ballot in North Dakota with him this year, spend a lot of time distancing themselves from their national party. Schneider agreed when I asked him if actions like this from the DNC are a reason why they do that.
“It does make it difficult to claim to be a national party,” he told me.
I also spoke to Grand Forks Herald publisher Korrie Wenzel about the question of legalizing gambling in North Dakota.
