On this episode of the Plain Talk Podcast I interviewed Rep. Kelly Armstrong.
Recently Armstrong threw a Twitter jab at media darling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York), but said before all that he had a very nice conversation with her on a bus during orientation. He said they talked for about “15 minutes” mostly about the differences in representing an urban congressional district versus a mostly rural one. “She’s incredibly nice,” he said, adding that his Twitter post was about her politics and not her personally.
Armstrong also said President Donald Trump is right to stand by his demand for border wall funding, even with the government shut down. “There will never be a good faith discussion about it at any other time,” he said. Asked what it would take for him, personally, to vote for legislation to end the shutdown, Armstrong said “a real, significant increase in border funding.”
During the episode I also talked about paying federal workers who are working during the shutdown, raising the tobacco age to 19 (for all but active military members), that Gillette ad everyone is making a fuss over.
