Perry Schumacher: The Party Is Over For Establishment Republicans

0

This letter is to you, you, and you; and the rest of you.

You know who you are. You are the district chairs, co-chairs, legislators, and governors who think you are so important to the Republican Party. You remember the days when you would get 8 people to show up to a district meeting, select delegates, assign district leadership, and nominate incumbent after incumbent. So very, very important.

We remember in 2009 and 2010 how you looked down on us bunch of rubes who packed your district meetings. You were glad to have all the help and energy us little people could bring to that campaign season but our political views were just a bit too naive for your years of experience.

For you, it was ALL about beating Democrats. We had much different ideas. We felt our elected leaders should say what they mean and mean what they say. We felt it was time to turn over our own party leaders with those who were sincere and honorable. We warned you that our patience was getting thin. We were so silly and we got burned.

We helped you for two elections. Useful idiots that first helped you get the House then the Senate. Each time candidates told us promises that to this day remain unfulfilled. The promises for you were immaterial, they were Republicans and they could defeat Democrats.

Now who is the fool? You have run out of time and chances. Yes, we warned you the party’s days were numbered if you did not find “religion”. You were willing to live with the con because your goal of defeating Democrats was reached. You were so full of your self-importance that you found it unnecessary for multiple candidates to run for congress. You whispered to us how Republicans do not vote against incumbent Republicans. Hell, you even were proud to run John Hoeven for Senate and Jack Dalrymple for Governor. Always defeating Democrats, your goals and self-worth reached.

This cheerleader over substance carried over to national races. Remember abandoning free market principles to save free market principles. No reason for worry, Bush was a Republican. Then McCain and then Romney, always the next in line. This year you even were willing to take a look at the next Bush, still clueless to those whose support you need.

Now here we are. Super Tuesday is over and so is your party.

Warnings went unheeded and now Donald frick’n Trump has taken all those broken promises and taken you out. This happened entirely because of you and the many like you all across this country. You were “the party” for decades and you will go down in history as the ones who destroyed it.

We told you this day would come. Now we predict many of you will stay home rather than support your party’s nominee even though you lectured us on doing so election after election. If only you had taken our suggestions to heart in those days of 2009-2010.

We leave you with one final suggestion.

When the Donald goes over the necessary delegate count needed for nomination and you vomit, remember to rinse and spit.
