Michael Moore: "Fear And Racism" Is Why Americans Like Guns

I’ll stipulate to the idea that “fear” is why a lot of Americans want guns. We do, and should, have a certain level of fear for those who might do us wrong. But racism?

If gun rights proponents are so racist, then why do they want gun rights for blacks and Hispanics and other minorities too? I don’t think the NRA is calling for 2nd amendment rights just for white Americans. The gun rights proponents I know see the 2nd amendment as a universal right.

And, frankly, minorities (especially blacks) ought to understand the importance of a right to self-arm more than anyone else given their history of persecution and slavery.

Remember that gun control was something the Ku Klux Klan was for, their reasoning being that blacks ought to be kept disarmed and vulnerable.
