Mayor Stothert’s proposed 2015 budget includes the city’s first property tax cut in 14 years.

$10— a year— on a $100,000 home.

$15— a year— on a $150,000 home.

$20— a year— on a $200,000 home.

That’s the admittedly “very modest” 2 percent property tax cut proposed by Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert in her 2015 city budget.

Left standing, all 2.5 percent of the city’s restaurant tax. In fact, according to the mayor, the ever growing restaurant tax—one of the her campaign promises was to eliminate it—helped pay for the property tax cut.

So is the restaurant tax here to stay?
