Two years ago Democrats accused Lee Terry of nasty, negative campaigning: No surprise.

Rep. Lee Terry

That same year the state’s largest newspaper said Terry’s was guilty of “unseemly behavior” for his campaign ads.

That accusation was a bit surprising because the the Omaha World-Herald had always endorsed Terry’s re-elections. But the paper dropped its support in 2012.

And now an even bigger surprise.

Congressman Terry’s latest campaign tactics—those used in his primary fight with fellow Republican Dan Frei—are being questioned.

The surprising part is that it’s the head of the Douglas County Republican Party, Bryan Baumgart, who is pointing fingers.

Just last week Terry told KFAB radio he was still trying to figure out why he was only able to defeat Frei by six points—that while outspending Frei 20-1.

But in a recent interview with Nebraska Watchdog (see video below) Baumgart made it clear he knows at least part of the reason.
