FBI asks public’s help tracking home grown terrorists

Searching for home grown terrorists the FBI is casting a wide public net, complete with a tip link and a 76 second video.

“We need the public’s assistance in identifying U.S. persons going to fight overseas with terrorist groups or who are returning home from fighting overseas,” said Michael Steinbach, assistant director of the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division.

FBI Director James Comey says there are about 12 Americans currently fighting with ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups in Syria.

And that’s where the FBI hopes the public can be of help as it seeks information about the identity of an English-speaking individual seen in an ISIL propaganda video released last month.
