Port: State Auditor rips lawmakers, officials as ‘corrupt’ over bill on what office can charge for audits

Minot, N.D. — When Josh Gallion, a Republican, was first elected auditor, it became clear that he was taking a far more aggressive approach to his duties than his predecessor. Many, including myself, saw that as a good thing.

But Gallion has also built himself a reputation as a media hound. He often sends out sensational press releases about his office’s work, sometimes before the officials being audited are even aware of them.

As an example, consider recent testimony submitted to state lawmakers by Kelly Woessener, the auditor for the city of Parshall, concerning House Bill 1508.
