Port: I guess Minnesota needs North Dakota’s coal-fired electricity after all?

MINOT, N.D. — Earlier this year, Minnesota lawmakers passed, and Gov. Tim Walz signed, legislation that aims to transition the state to carbon-free energy by effectively banning sources such as coal power.

North Dakota warned that this is probably unconstitutional — the courts have struck down similar legislation from Minnesota in the past as a violation of the commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution — and that this would almost certainly result in a lawsuit.
