Long Time Lawmaker Eliot Glassheim Expected To Be Drafted By Democrats For US Senate

I’m in Fargo watching the NDGOP convention – watching Senator John Hoeven accept his party’s endorsement, ironically enough -but word from my sources on the floor at the Democratic convention in Bismarck is that they’re drafting a candidate for the Senate.
The candidate is long-time lawmaker Eliot Glassheim who declined to run for another term in District 18 (Grand Forks) this cycle.
“It’s not a futile effort, and he’ll be endorsed at some point today,” my source tells me.
It’s a surprising pick to me. Glassheim has missed a significant amount of time in the Legislature in recent years due to ill health.
Also, Democrats were supposed to be amid a youth movement, and while Glassheim is widely respected among both Democrats and Republicans, he’s not young.
UPDATE: KFYR confirms.
UPDATE: According to Mike Nowatzki, Democrats will also have candidates for Public Service Commisisoner and Auditor.
