Sometimes an ailing patient needs diet and exercise, sometimes an invasive operation. What does our Constitution need?

Some people want to operate. Actually, the political Left has agreed on that for at least a century. The Nation’s Daniel Lazare describes the Constitution as “an anchor [that is] holding American society back.” In his book, The Frozen Republic: How the Constitution is Paralyzing Democracy, Lazare calls for eliminating the Electoral College and the Senate amid other changes.
