Washington Post Names SAB Top State Political Blog

80

The Washington Post annually holds a contest to name the top political blogs in the states. The blogs included in the list are all reader-submitted, and I’m happy to say that SAB made the list for North Dakota.

You can see the full list here.

Winning notoriety for being a political blogger in North Dakota – not exactly a hotbed of political blogging – might seem like a trivial thing, but with SAB in its 10th year of existence it’s not something I take lightly. This website has become a hub of sorts for political news in the state, as well as an important forum for political discussion, and that’s not due entirely to me.

Yeah, I write most of the posts, but SAB gets important contributions from regulars and guest posters alike. You readers send me the emails that help keep me informed, and provide the discussions that keep the site lively. You readers are the ones who keep coming back for more.

For that I’m thankful. SAB has been, and still is, on the cutting edge of digital media in this state. I hope to write more about that later this year in commemorating the 10th anniversary of the blog’s founding, but for now know that I’m thankful to all of you who participate whether you’re left or right or otherwise.

Digital media isn’t top-down like old media. It’s participatory. It’s a conversation. That’s what matters.
