Sarah Palin To Visit Williston In October? UPDATE: Confirmed

0

According to a link SAB readers are emailing me, former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be visiting Williston, North Dakota, in October.

Here’s the link to an event page for the Fall Fundraising Banquet for Trinity Christian School in Williston. According to the event description:

Trinity Christian School will hold its annual Fall Fundraising Banquet at The Well at Williston State College. Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential candidate, will be the keynote speaker, and David Barton, President and CEO of WallBuilders, will be the guest speaker. The theme of this year’s banquet will center on the oil industry and Christian education.

I’ve sent an email to the school contact asking for confirmation, but obviously it’s the weekend now so I don’t know when I’ll get a response.

According to some quick googling, it appears as though Palin has done this sort of thing before. It seems strange that there would be an event page on the internet announcing the visit before any media announcements, but who knows.

I’ll update when/if I get confirmation.

This could be an interesting visit, given the timing. It’s hard to say how political Palin will get at a fundraiser event like this, but she’s perhaps best known for being outspoken on energy issues. And she’d be talking from the heart of North Dakota’s oil patch just before a statewide election in which the oil boom will be a major issue.

Update: SAB readers with kids at TCS are telling me this is true. Tickets for non-TCS people will apparently be available in May.

Update: Dixie Evitt from TCS tells me this morning via email that Palin will be visiting.

“Sarah Palin is our guest speaker for our fall banquet set for Monday, October 13, 2014 along with David Barton,” she told me via email.  “We also are having a concert the next evening, the 14th, with Ernie Haase and Signature Sound.  Tickets will be available to the public on Monday, May 5th.”
