North Dakota unveiled its new-look license plates on Wednesday, June 25.

Today was deadline day for ballot measures to be included on the November ballot.

Earlier today the folks behind the recreational marijuana ballot measure turned in over 18,000 signatures. This evening the folks behind a ballot measure to create a special license plate for first responders turned in about 15,000.

The law requires 13,452 signatures to qualify for the ballot.

You can read the full release from the Secretary of State’s office related to this ballot measure, as well as the measure itself, right here.

Including the two measures submitted today, there should be four statewide ballot measures for North Dakotans to decide in November.

A measure to create an ethics commission in the state constitution is also under signature review, as is a constitutional measure to outlaw non-citizen voting.

Measures to raise the state minimum wage and to repeal the state’s Sunday closing laws are also still being circulated, though the organizers of those measures announced some time ago that they weren’t likely to make the deadline.
