On Television: North Dakota Game And Fish Loses Track Of Over 100 Guns

Last night I was on television for my weekly segment with Chris Berg on his 6:30 Point of View program on Valley News Live. Aside from the fact that I couldn’t keep my earpiece in my ear for some reason, it went well.

We discussed my post about North Dakota Game & Fish’s devastating audit which, among other things, found that the agency had lost track of about 100 guns used in hunter safety classes. That was an ugly audit, to be sure, with no fewer than 44 significant findings by auditors.

We also discussed a story I broke about Game & Fish hunter safety instructors using classroom time to promote and even circulate petitions in favor of the Clean Water, Wildlife and Parks amendment which, if passed, would divert hundreds of millions of dollars every biennium into a conservation fund.

That story came on top of a previous story I’d written about an auction of items seized from poachers that was also used by the North Dakota Wildlife Federation to push the petitions.

Needless to say, a lot of black eyes for the North Dakota Game & Fish Department.
