Protest organizer Kristen Kelsch hold a sign and chants across the street from the State Capitol in Bismarck on Thursday. A line of police prevented Kelsch and others from hold the protest to the Dakota Access Pipeline on the Capitol grounds

A federal judge is set to rule at some point today on a motion filed by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe to block the Dakota Access Pipeline, and North Dakota officials are bracing for what could be a violent reaction from protesters organized by the tribe in southern North Dakota.

Protesters organized near a convenience store and gas station owned by Standing Rock chairman David Archambault, as it turns out.

On his personal website Archambault lists himself as owner of the Cannonball Pit Stop, something the MAIN Coalition (a group of interests supporting the pipeline) pointed out in a recent post:

Capture

Beyond the hypocrisy of a man who owns a gas station organizing a protest aimed at blocking vital oil industry infrastructure – one populated by a large and outspoken faction of people who view oil and capitalism as evil – there is the fact that Archambault is no doubt profiting mightily from the protesters given the proximity of his business to their encampments:

Just so we’re clear, the organizer of a protest aimed inhibiting American oil production by blocking an oil pipeline is making money selling oil products to the protesters.

You gotta love capitalism. It’s pervasive. Even among people who, you know, hate capitalism.
