Presumptive GOP Nominee Donald Trump To Visit North Dakota Later This Month

0

It was rumored a week or so ago that Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz and/or Donald Trump might be visiting North Dakota in May, appearing at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference.

Since then Ted Cruz has dropped out of the race after a drubbing in Indiana, and Donald Trump is the presumptive nominee and will be visiting North Dakota I can confirm.

The conference is May 24-26 in Bismarck. I’m told that Trump will be appearing on the 26th at about 1:00pm. There will be information about tickets at the link.

I’m not surprised that Trump is visiting. The headliner for the event (before Trump decided to visit) was former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz who has endorsed Trump. Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm, one of the biggest players in North Dakota’s oil industry, has also given his endorsement.

And Trump seems to have been the favored candidate for North Dakotans, too. A poll by DFM research released back in early March showed Trump on top of five other Republican candidates who were still in the race at the time. An internet straw poll conducted by North Dakota’s at-large Congressman Kevin Cramer earlier this year also showed Trump winning.

Cramer has endorsed Trump, and Senator John Hoeven has said that he’ll back whoever the GOP nominee is.

UPDATE: Here’s the official press release from the North Dakota Petroleum Council (which hosts the conference):
