North Dakota is certainly getting a lot of attention from the presidential campaigns this cycle.

Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and Carly Fiorina all visited the NDGOP state convention last month, though the latter two had ended their campaigns and were serving as surrogates at the time. Donald Trump is set to visit the state later this month. Now it seems that Bernie Sanders is coming to Fargo.

I had heard initially from political circles, citing secret service contacts with local law enforcement, that he was going to be visiting Fargo on Thursday and Bismarck on Friday, but the press release put out by the Sanders campaign only mentions Fargo on Friday.

Maybe plans changed. These things can be pretty fluid.

What will be interesting to watch is how closely North Dakota Democrats will want to associate themselves with Sanders. Trump has been giving some North Dakota Republicans fits. They don’t want to associate too closely with him now that he’s their presumptive nominee.

I’ll bet many Democrat office holders in the state will feel the same way.
