Awesome: 88.6% Of North Dakotans Live Within 10 Miles Of A Gun Dealer

This statistic was put together by the rabidly anti-gun Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and I think it’s supposed to be scary or something, but my first thought was how convenient.

NEW YORK – Mayors Against Illegal Guns released a map today showing that 88.6 percent of North Dakotans live within ten miles of a gun store, disproving the gun lobby’s claim that background checks would be a burden for private gun sellers and bolstering the case for checks on all gun sales. There are 415 federally licensed gun dealers in North Dakota – more than the number of post offices

This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone. North Dakota has a lot of guns. Thus, we also have a lot of people who sell and service them. We also have some of the most lax gun laws in the nation, with the anti-gun Brady Campaign giving the state just a 4 out of 100 in its gun control rankings.

Yet, despite all that, North Dakota ranks just 4th in the nation in murders committed with a gun per 100,000 citizens.

The worst in the nation? Washington DC, which though they’re not ranked by the Brady Campaign, is widely known to have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation.

If gun control advocates have it right, if the mere presence of guns in our society leads to violence, then North Dakota should be at the top of the chart for gun violence not the bottom.

For what it’s worth, North Dakota also has the lowest density for abortion clinics in the nation.
