Congressman Kevin Cramer joined me on my radio show yesterday for his weekly open phones segment, and responding to a caller question he ended up ripping Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

The caller was complaining about the lack of Republican progress on priorities like repealing Obamacare, and Cramer defended the House of Representatives pointing out that they passed a bill to repeal Obamacare which failed in the Senate.

“We have a one chamber problem and it’s the Senate,” said Cramer who is actually still considering a run for the U.S. Senate, challenging Democratic incumbent Heidi Heitkamp.

You have to wonder if his dissatisfaction with the Republican majority in the Senate might make it more likely he’ll run to sit in that chamber.

I asked Cramer if the Senate Republicans need new leadership. Specifically, if Majority Leader Mitch McConnell needs to go.

Cramer stopped short of calling for McConnell to step down from his leadership position, but he still had some choice words for the man.

“He plods along in his old, traditional, swampish way,” Cramer told me.
