Over the weekend my colleague Sam Easter published a lengthy profile of me. You can read it here if you haven’t seen it already.

He had a tough job. While I make my living writing and talking for public consumption, I am essentially a very private person.

Talking about myself is excruciating.

The response to the piece has been overwhelming. I am humbled by the tidal wave of kind words from people who follow my work, many of whom disagree with me often or even all the time but find still find my work illuminating.

There were haters too, of course. In this day and age it’s difficult for many people to see past philosophical differences. For many, it’s not enough simply to disagree with a point of view. You must also hate the person expressing it.

It seems that there are plenty in my audience who hate me. At least they’re paying attention.

As an aside, I have to laugh at the number of people who display an intimate knowledge of my writing and broadcasting in their comments yet feel the need to belittle me by claiming they never read or listen.

C’mon, folks. You’re not fooling anyone.

Anyway, I wanted to put a note here on the blog thanking you folks in the audience. I’ve been writing this blog for going on 14 years now, and some of you have been around almost since the beginning.

I always said, in the early days, that when it stopped being fun and started feeling like work I’d quit.

Well, it’s still fun. I’m not quitting (to the chagrin of the haters, I’m sure).

Thank you all for your support over the years.
