As Nutty As They Come

Alec Baldwin on Dick Cheney:

I mean, this is the guy that sicced Enron on Gray Davis and the state of California to embarrass Davis, trigger the recall and then watched Arnold Schwarzenegger become governor of California. (To this day, perhaps, still the low point in American political life.) Then Cheney covered it up.

Cheney's the guy who told Libby to out Valerie Plame. The rumor I heard is that someone yelled, "Look out! Shooter!" and Cheney thought he said Scooter and fired in that general direction.

Cheney is a terrorist. He terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately. Who ever thought Harry Whittington would be the answer to America's prayers. Finally, someone who might get that lying, thieving Cheney into a courtroom to answer some direct questions.

The scary thing? He's being serious.

That's right. Baldwin actually believes that Enron was a plot hatched by Cheney to trick Gray Davis into mismanaging California's energy situation so that Arnie could be installed as the state's Governor.

He also believes that Cheney is a terrorist, suggesting once again that most of these wacked-out Hollywood liberal types probably don't even know what terrorism is. Maybe they all thought 9/11 was some new type of reality show or something. Who knows.

Why anybody takes people like this seriously is beyond me. But what's sad is that some do take them seriously, and they will continue to be taken seriously because the mainstream leaders on the left are afraid to denounce people like Alec Baldwin because people like Baldwin pump a lot of money into leftist causes. And right now the left, Democrats specifically, can't afford to fall behind any further behind Republicans in fundraising.

Having seen a number of interviews given by Alec Baldwin, and at least two of his movies, I am convinced that the remarks you quote, from the Huffington Post, are simply too concise, too properly constructed and grammatically correct, to be the work of Mr. Baldwin.  More likely its the work of a publicist or some other flack.

To be sure it is the same sort of angry, radical left nonsense we’ve come to expect from Baldwin and the other Hollywood “glitterati.”  But that’s hardly news.

After all for Baldwin, and Susan Sarandon, and Sean Penn, and Barbra Streisand and the rest, everything they are, everything they have, their fame, their fortune, their notoriety, their very being, is all due to a talent (in Baldwin’s case, a rather modest one) for make believe.  Were it not for this facility for fantasy, no one would know, or care, about any of them.

In fact, Baldwin was one of several Hollywood types who at one time “threatened” to leave the country if George Bush was elected.  Obviously, integrity, like reality, is not one of his more “bankable” qualities.  Pity.

During the Whitewater deal, Alec Baldwin called for Ken Starr and his family to be dragged out on to their front lawn and stoned to death.  He did it on one of the late night talk shows, so it wasn’t written by a publicist, he actually said it.  The guy has serious problems.

You just have to chuckle, while he believes his own crap, you just can’t respond to insanity.

Old saying, " If brains was money and it took a nickel to travel around the world, Alec Baldwin would never get out of sight."

Baldwin and people like him cease to amaze.  What does amaze me is that people still give him a forum for this crap.  Calling the Vice President a terrorist should be met with the same kind of scorn and derision as calling Jesse Jackson a nigger.  But nobody ever does.  At least, nobody on the left does it.  It is sickening.

When Ann Coulter called Muslims "rag heads" I criticized her right away.  I said that was over the line.  Where’s the backlash for Baldwin?

It doesn’t exist, and to me that is an indictment of the left at large.
